Heat Wave Hits Tuolumne County
Instruments monitored by the National Weather Service and Tuolumne Utilities District showed the heat wave set a new record daytime high of 110 degrees Fahrenheit for Sonora on Saturday. The previous record daytime high for the date July 6 was 107 degrees in 1991.
Records going back to the 1930s show the only other times it’s been hotter than 110 degrees in Sonora in the month of July were July 15, 1972, when it was 113 degrees, and July 20, 1960, when it was 112 degrees.
Stay safe, stay as cool as possible and stay hydrated!
